LITTLE BY LITTLE

It is good to know the weapons with which to engage the enemy, but this is not enough. It is important to also know the techniques of the enemy so that you will be guided on how to apply the weapons you have. The more I study the devil, the more I am convinced that he is a good boxer. In boxing, there are three major types of blow: the jab, the hook and the uppercut. The average boxer aims at hitting the head of his opponent but he may not start there. He starts with the jabs at the head, while the opponent is dodging these jabs, his stomach is exposed and the boxer capitalizes on this to give the hook on the stomach. If he succeeds in hitting the solar plexus in the stomach, the opponent tilts forward and the boxer gives the uppercut because the head is closer and most likely not protected.

This tells us something about Satan’s modus operandi, particularly in bringing down committed, Heaven-bound Christians. Although his goal is to completely severe the believer from his helper, so that members of the kingdom of darkness can do whatever they like with the fellow, he carries out this plan on a piecemeal basis. To succeed in this plan, the enemy can be very patient. The devil is satisfied with separating you from the Vine little by little. As is commonly said, ‘Little drops of water make the mighty ocean’. This is why you must be concerned about your decrease in spiritual matters as little failings lead to a great fall. If you are gradually accepting Satan’s excuse –it doesn’t matter, know that something is wrong somewhere. If you have moved from no lie to little lies once in a while, you are already heading for a FALL. If a little anger is now permitted by you, know that great anger is on its way. Never allow little sins! Never give room for secrete sins. No matter the size, sin is ultimately going to separate you from God more, obey Him and have more of Him. Little by little keep making efforts to grow in faith no matter how little the effort is each time. Don’t’ stay at the same spot!

DOES IT MATTER TO YOU?

“Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look around and see…” (Lamentation 1:12)

Does it matter to you that out of about 7 billion people in the world, there are only about 2 billion who are Christians (including all kinds of Christian sects, both the born again and sinners?) This leaves us with over 5 billion people who do not profess the Christian religion.

Does it matter to you, that there are over 1.5 billion Muslims, over 1 billion Buddhists and over 850 million Hindus in the world? This does not include those who do not practice any religion?

Does it matter to you, that there are over 16,000 distinct groups in the world and over 6,000 which is above 1billion of the world’s population are unreached, that is, they have no opportunity to hear the gospel, without Bible, without any church, and have no access to the good news of Jesus?

Does it matter to you that over 153,000 people die every day, and many of them may never have heard or accepted Jesus into their lives?

Does it matter to you that about 30,000 people starve to death every day? And out of them, 8 are children. Even with this we have enough to eat and waste. We can give our excess for missionary.

Does it matter to you, that youth violence and suicide among young people is on the increase? Youths who are supposed to be the hope of the future have lost interest in life.

Does it matter to you, that 6 children are forced to live on the street every second and about 26 children become prostitutes every minute; probably because of frustration and loss of hope. You can tell them of Jesus, the hope of glory?

Does it matter to you that, there are over 1.1 billion people in Africa of which over 300 million are Muslims, aside the atheists, traditionalists, sinning Christians and non-religious?

Does it matter to you that 14 persons out of every 1,000 persons die every day in Nigeria?

Does it matter to you that every year UNILAG admits about 7,000 students and among these you can see many who are ignorant of life, naive, simple, vulnerable, immature and susceptible to the deception of cultists and Satan’s trap of immorality, drunkenness and vileness?

Does it matter to you, that every Friday night many of our girls are parked into buses to places where they are defiled, deflowered, misused and mal-handled and messed up?

Does it matter to you that among over 4,000 staffs on our campus only relatively few are Christians, and 70% are atheist, agnostics, antagonists and mockers? What influence will they have on students and policies made in the campus?

Does it matter to you, that in our hostels, very often we find young boys and girls vomiting and misbehaving because they have drunk to stupor; because the influence of unbelievers are greater than that of believers?

Does it matter to you that each year, the university graduates thousands of students who do not have any desire nor interest in God, and they end up filling the vacuum of worldly entertainers?

Does it matter to you that you have not won a soul for Christ since you became a Christian?

Does it matter to you that you are ashamed to tell others that you are a Christian? Is your identity known, do you witness for Christ or do you pretend so that people will not identify you as a Christian in your hostels and faculties?

Does it matter to you that the voices of sinners, non-believers and vanities are so deafening you can hardly hear the voices of believers?

Does it matter to you that lesbianism, homosexuality, hyper-sexuality, sodomy and blasphemy is on exponential increase among our students?

Does it matter to you that in eternity, some of these students and staff colleagues will look at us with irredeemable pain and anguish saying: you wicked person! You never told me of Jesus? If only you told me?

Do the souls of these students and staffs matter to you? Would you be blameless?

If it does matter to you, then you must arise and do something. It is an emergency, it is urgency and it is expediency. Many armed robbers, homosexuals, lesbians, prostitutes and social miscreants are effect of lost opportunities of the past. Who know how many will soon join these band wagon of helpless and hopeless souls to hell where we will lose them forever except someone would preach to them. You are important to this task.

WHAT WILL THE WORLD BE WITHOUT YOU?

Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been as Gomorrah. 

Isaiah 1:9

Have you ever sat back to examine your life?, have you ever assessed its worth?, have you ever asked yourself  "WHAT THE WORLD WILL BE WITHOUT YOU?". What would the world be if you were never born?. Can you imagine what the world would have been without Martin Luther, Billy Graham, Charles Spurgeon and other contemporary men of God?. Their non-existence might have meant uninterrupted and uncontrolled activities of dark forces. Also imagine a world without ADOLF HITLER, the man that set the stage for the second world war! or SADDAM HUSSEIN-the architect of  the gulf war! or  think of the world without THOMAS EDISON, MICHAEL FARADAY, ALBERT EINSTEIN, and lastly IMAGINE THE WORLD WITHOUT YOU. Would it be better for it(the earth) or worse?, would it be safer if you were not born?, will you leave footprints in the sand of times?, what difference will your presence make on earth?, how will your existence affect the flow of history?, WILL HISTORY BE COMPLETE WITHOUT YOU?, will the rot set in because of your action or will you stop the rot in your sphere of existence?, what will men say about your existence on earth?. Of Sodom, it was said that "in his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace...", of YOU, "what will be the story?". Are you going to uphold it or bring down the "Goliath" that is standing against the progress of God's people?, are you going to ameliorate or aggravate the wave of sexual perversion among disoriented youths of our generation who have sold their soul to the devil in exchange for the gloss and glitters of life?, will "another gospel " gain ground with your eyes wide open?(Galatians 1:8,9).

What are you going to do to make sure that the devil does not have the "final say and carry the day" in your days?. Will the dark places of the earth remain dark and darker in your days?. The Bible tells us that our Lord Jesus brought light. He was and is "THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD". Just imagine our Lord Jesus coming to this world to "SOCIALIZE OR PURSUE THE VANITIES AND FRIVOLITIES  OF LIFE"?, what would the world have been by now?. The big question is "WHY ARE YOU WHERE YOU ARE?". Are you there to propagate perversion or to uphold righteousness?.

To those ready to uphold righteousness, can God count on you?. are you going to be another John Knox of our generation who prayed that God should give him Scotland or he'll die, are you ready to "risk your Life" for the Lord?, can you boldly say like Paul "WOE IS ME IF I PREACH NOT THE GOSPEL?". Is the world just going to pass away without feeling your IMPACT?

REMEMBER... YOU WILL ONLY BE REMEMBERED FOR TWO THINGS, "THE PROBLEMS YOU SOLVED AND THE ONES YOU CREATED".

HE KISSED HIS DESTINY GOODBYE

 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not EXCEL; because you went up to your father’s bed; you defile it; he went up to my couch. 

Genesis 49:3-4

His story would have been different were it not for the fact that he lacked self-control. His future would have been colourful if he had not crossed his boundary. His destiny would have been glorious if he had not taken the forbidden path. He wouldn't have gone into oblivion if he had not eaten the forbidden fruit. He wouldn't have merely existed if he had not allowed his passion to determine his direction. He wouldn't have quit this existence without setting the Thames on fire if he had not encroached upon his father’s conjugal right. He would have operated on the platform of excellence and dignity in life if he had taken the long view when his emotion got the better of him. He would have been an eternal Excellency and a joy of many generations had he not pandered to inordinate desires (Isaiah 60:15).

He would have become a beacon lighting the course for others to follow if he had not yielded to the passing whims of the flesh. He would have ridden on the crest of the waves if he had thought twice about giving in to his lust. Those whose destinies were inextricably linked with his would have been in his debt forever if he had not exceeded the limit of divine permission. He would have made an indelible impression on his and subsequent generations if he had not given vent to his pent-up passion. He would have stood head and shoulders above his contemporaries if he had not allowed “erection” to decide the course of his life. He would not have been among the run -of- the- mill if he had looked before he leapt when faced with the opportunity to prove his sexual prowess. He would have held the spotlight in his days if he had lived within the bound of moral decency. He would have left a footprint on the sand of time if he had not taken liberty for a license. He would have GONE FAR IN LIFE if he had not GONE TOO FAR. He wouldn't have taken a backseat in life if he had not thrown caution to the wind as result of sexual arousal.

Reuben (the firstborn of Jacob) overstepped his bounds and, in a matter of seconds, kissed his destiny goodbye. He ate the forbidden fruit and so had his name crossed off the list of those scheduled to positively influence the flow of history. He swum with the tide of sexual immorality and so got knocked off his pedestal. He sacrificed the place of prominence (position and privileges of the firstborn) in life on the altar of momentary pleasures. He went too far and so had his destiny put under lock and key. By the time he came to his senses, it was already water under the bridge. I can imagine his father saying to him, as he probably pleaded for pardon: “There is no use crying over spilt milk”. It is no use trying to lock the stable door after the horse had bolted. A one-night stand overshadowed his future and turned his life upside down. Just a night of passion took the gilt off the gingerbread of his destiny. Can you see the REWARD of sexual immorality? What a risky game it is!

If there is anything you need to avoid like the plague; if there is anything you need to give a wide berth; if there is anything you need to say NO to, it is sexual sin. This is not my opinion but what the Word of God says (2 Timothy 2:22, 1 Corinthians 6:18, Genesis 39:12). It is a sin that leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. It is a sin that can detract from the beauty of one’s life if indulged in. It reduced Reuben to the equivalent of a piece of bread (Prov.6:26). It set the stage for the untimely and ignominious exit of Samson in the Bible from the theatrical stage of life. If you are Indulging in illicit sex, ask God to forgive you and invite Jesus into your life. There are no two ways about it. Give it a wide berth so you don’t kiss your destiny goodbye!
